We recommend using David as a protein supplement in your diet up to 2 bars per day. David should complement a balanced diet to help you consume more protein with fewer calories. Overconsumption of bars may cause GI effects.

Our Chief Science Director, Peter Attia MD, has noted that the idea of consuming too much protein has never been definitively established. While some people cite studies that cite studies that cite studies, there is no direct evidence proving this claim. There may be an upper limit of protein intake that is safe (e.g., 400 g/day, above which may overly tax the kidneys), but we do not know this for certain. As such, it is quite difficult to make the case that eating 0.8 to 1 g of protein per pound of body weight is anything but beneficial.
