The Protein System combines milk protein isolate, collagen, whey protein concentrate, and egg white to deliver a perfect 1.0 PDCAAS score, optimizing muscle protein synthesis and supporting hair, skin, and nail health. The Binding System primarily uses maltitol, glycerin, and allulose. Maltitol and allulose also provide sweetness with significantly reduced blood sugar effects. Collectively, the Binding System contributes just 20 calories per bar. The Fat System incorporates a modified plant fat (EPG) along with small amounts of coconut oil, cocoa butter, and palm kernel oil (in some flavors). EPG replicates the texture of fat while being indigestible, contributing only 0.7 calories per gram. This results in a fat system that contributes just 18 calories per bar. David contains allergens of milk, soy, coconut, and eggs. Our Salted Peanut Butter and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk flavors contain peanuts. Because all of our products are made in a facility that processes peanuts, sesame, and tree nuts there is a risk of cross-contamination. Our bars not suitable for most vegetarian or vegan diets given we use bovine collagen. David does not contain any pork products. David has a shelf life of 1 year. To maintain freshness and quality, store David at room temperature away from direct sunlight until the Best By date. To extend shelf life further or to maintain optimal taste and texture over time, you can refrigerate or freeze your bars. If chilled, we recommend allowing them to warm to room temperature before eating.

David contains 0g of sugar and is primarily sweetened with sucralose and acesulfame potassium, which have no calories and do not raise more than negligible blood glucose levels. Both sweeteners are FDA-approved and have undergone extensive safety studies to ensure that they have no harmful effects on humans. For acesulfame potassium, the FDA reviewed more than 90 studies, while sucralose underwent evaluation through over 110 studies. These evaluations focused on potential toxic effects, determining that there is no causation of negatives health outcomes. Human clinical trials were also reviewed to assess sucralose metabolism and its effects on individuals with diabetes. Maltitol and allulose, part of the bar's binding system, also add sweetness with a fraction of the caloric impact of sugar. Maltitol, in its powder form, has a glycemic index of 35, meaning it causes a slower and smaller rise in blood glucose. Allulose has a near zero glycemic impact and contributes minimal calories.

Our bars contain 2g of fiber each, so they are not high in fiber. They are designed to provide high-quality protein with minimal calories and zero sugar, focusing on supporting increased muscle, decreased fat, and beauty. While the bars are not high in fiber, the high protein and allulose (a non digestible carbohydrate) have a strong satiating effect.

While we don't make specific claims about net carbs (as it's not an FDA-regulated term), David bars are designed to maximize protein while minimizing calories and sugar. Most of the carbohydrates in our bars have a reduced calorie impact (meaning they would not be counted as full "net carbs"), and the carbohydrates in David total just 18 calories per bar. Based on this, our bars are blood-sugar-friendly, though we recommend testing with a glucose monitor to confirm how they work for you.

There is no digestible seed oil in David. We do use a modified plant fat called EPG. The raw material for EPG prior to its processing is rapeseed oil. Prior to use in David, the rapeseed oil is converted from a polyunsaturated fat to a saturated fat, and then further handled to become indigestible by humans. Some David flavors do contain palm kernel oil. This is a saturated fat that comes from the kernel of the oil palm tree. It has a similar fatty acid profile to coconut oil. Our Palm kernel oil is sourced from suppliers certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (rspo.org), which ensures that the fat is sustainably produced and contributes to the conservation of natural resources and biodiversity.
